Liberal Democrat leader and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has said his party's coalition with the Conservatives leads the way for a "new kind of government".

Speaking after a party meeting, he said the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats were "united in wishing to tackle the immense challenges this country faces".

He sought to reassure those who voted for the Liberal Democrats that he "was genuinely convinced it offers a unique opportunity to deliver the kind of changes you and I believe in".
