Houghton and Sunderland South aim to declare first

The constituency of Sunderland South always took pride in the speed of its counting.

At the last election, it declared its next MP just 44 minutes after polls had closed.

This year, despite boundary adjustments in the constituency, they hope to equal a record they believe was set by Guildford.
