A fourteen-year-old girl has broken down in tears before Gordon Brown and an assembled audience of around 2,500 at a Citizens UK event in London.

She was describing to the audience how her mother, who works as a cleaner at the Treasury, struggles to support her family on her wage.

Citizens UK is championing the cause of a "living wage", one of the key points in its manifesto.

Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Nick Clegg all spoke at the event.
