Prospective parliamentary candidates in Leeds have taken part in a hustings event at a mosque in the city. Those standing for the Conservatives, Labour, Liberal Democrats and the Green party in the Leeds Central, North West, and West constituencies were involved. The debate was held on Saturday at the Leeds Grand Mosque in the Hyde Park area of the city. Questions were planned to cover health, education, foreign policy, faith and diversity as well as local issues. Candidates standing The candidates standing for Leeds Central are: Labour: Hilary Benn; Conservative: Alan Lamb; British National Party: Kevin Meeson; Independent: We Beat The Scum One-Nil; Independent: Dave Procter; Liberal Democrat: Michael Taylor. The candidates standing in Leeds North West are: Alliance for Green Socialism: Trevor Bavage; Labour: Judith Blake; British National Party: Geoffrey Bulmer; Green: Martin Hemingway; Liberal Democrat: Greg Mulholland; Conservative: Julia Mulligan; English Democrats: Alan Procter; UK Independence Party: Mark Thackray. The candidates standing in Leeds West are: British National Party: Joanna Beverley; Green: David Blackburn; Liberal Democrat: Ruth Coleman; Conservative: Joe Marjoram; UK Independence Party: Jeff Miles; Labour: Rachel Reeves.
