Conservative leader David Cameron has come under attack from a voter over the stalled regeneration of Bradford city centre.
A major retail development was put on hold by developers during the recession, leaving what has become known as "the hole in the ground".
Emma Heal said it was "all down to the Conservative council". "Shame on you," she told Mr Cameron.
He replied: "I accept the regeneration is not going as it should."
However, during a question and answer session with viewers of BBC Look North, Mr Cameron said it was not right to put all the blame on the city council.
"Regeneration has been difficult because you have had a government that has given us the deepest and longest recession since the war."
David Cameron agreed to take questions from voters in Yorkshire for a programme on Look North. Viewers can see more at 6.30pm on BBC1 (Yorkshire) on Monday 26 April.
