Leaders argue over public spending on TV debate

Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Nick Clegg have clashed over police funding in the first prime ministerial TV debate in the UK.

The Conservative leader insisted savings could be made without cutting frontline services, while Gordon Brown accused the Conservatives of "airbrushing policies".

Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg said neither parties' sums added up.
