Political parties prepare for 6 May election

With the general election due on 6 May, parties from across the political spectrum are preparing themselves for what is expected to be the most closely fought contest in years.

The economy, taxation and public services will be the key areas of debate as the parties battle to gain votes from an electorate largely disillusioned by the expenses scandal.
