Hillary Clinton speaks to Record Europe


In a special edition of The Record Europe, the BBC's Shirin Wheeler speaks to the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Baroness Catherine Ashton, the EU's Special Representative for Foreign and Security Policy.

Hillary Clinton is in Brussels to meet EU and NATO chiefs in the middle of a short European tour. The interview focuses on the transatlantic partnership and how the two work together on issues such as nuclear proliferation, the Israel-Palestinian peace talks and the rise of China.

Ms Clinton tells Shirin Wheeler of the importance in having a figure in Europe to discuss major foreign policy issues with, and how the fact they are both women increases the closeness of their relationship.

The full interview will transmit in a special edition of The Record Europe on:

  • BBC World News on Friday 15 October at 20:30 GMT; Saturday 16 October at 0530 GMT (Europe only) and 1930 GMT; and Sunday 17 October at 0530 GMT (Europe only), 1130 GMT and 1730 GMT.
  • There will also be a special broadcast on BBC Parliament on Friday 15 October at 1845 GMT.
