The first meeting of the cabinet in David Cameron's coalition government has taken place.

The Chancellor George Osborne told colleagues that the deficit 'overshadows everything' and confirmed that all ministers would take a five percent pay cut.

Mr Cameron is also putting the finishing touches on his historic coalition government and will announce dozens of junior government posts.

Damian Green has already been confirmed as Immigration Minister and Dame Pauline Neville-Jones as Security Minister.

Colette McBeth reports.
