Nick Clegg says travel chaos 'a disaster'

Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg has described the grounding of flights because of a cloud of volcanic dust as ''a disaster'' for airlines and business.

Following a meeting of the government's emergency planning committee, Cobra, Gordon Brown has announced three Royal Navy ships are being drafted in to help British travellers and troops.

Mr Clegg's children are in Spain, awaiting help from relatives to get them home to their parents.
