Geoff Hoon on PM ballot: 'It was an opportunity'

Geoff Hoon has admitted that his attempt to force a Labour Party leadership ballot with colleague Patricia Hewitt is "over", after it failed to receive significant backing.

He said their aim was to resolve any ambiguities about the party leadership prior to the general election.

He made the remarks while visiting his constituency in the East Midlands.
