Trident's future under discussion

Under the waves somewhere in the world is a British submarine carrying 16 nuclear missiles and a crew of dedicated sailors.

The future of the Trident fleet is under discussion, but in the meantime they and the men serving on board them must remain constantly ready to launch a nuclear attack.

Giles Dilnot was given extremely rare access to HMS Vengeance to see what life is like for the 160 men awaiting the order.

You can see more on the debate over HMS Vengeance and the other Trident submarines on The Politics Show, BBC One on 13 December at 1200 GMT
