A Tory parliamentary candidate on the national party's A-list has fought off a bid by a Norfolk constituency association to deselect her.

Elizabeth Truss had been criticised for not telling them about an affair with Tory MP Mark Field in 2004/05 although she said the national party were aware.

She will now represent South West Norfolk at the next General Election.

Ms Truss said she was ''delighted'' with the outcome.
