Hague on support for Afghan mission

Shadow Foreign Secretary William Hague has indicated there would be no early UK troop pull-out from Afghanistan under a Conservative government.

He told Andrew Marr "it is far more preferable to succeed than to pull out now with the collapse of the government in Afghanistan".

But Mr Hague added that the public must be shown a "strategy they believe will succeed" in Afghanistan, backed by stronger co-ordination of rebuilding in the country.
