Growth figures 'a cold blast of realism'

The UK economy unexpectedly contracted by 0.4% between July and September meaning the country is still in recession.

Liberal Democrat Treasury spokesman Vince Cable said ''it was a cold blast of realism'' and the government should be more active in helping bank lending.
