Clarke hits out at red tape in business

Shadow Business Secretary Ken Clarke has called for businesses to be freed from ''excessive regulations and countless government quangos'' in order to be able to flourish.

In his speech to the Conservative Party conference, Mr Clarke said that under Labour, the machinery of government simply became ''bigger and more expensive''.
