Money Resolutions

A Money Resolution is required for any new bill introduced in Parliament which would lead to an increase in public spending.

A debate is held on the Money Resolution following the second reading of such a bill.

Only the financial implications of the legislation are discussed during this debate.

But if the Commons does not approve the expenditure, the bill stands no chance of becoming law.
