Brown answers Lockerbie questions

The Prime Minister Gordon Brown has responded to allegations that the UK government intervened to secure the release of Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi.

Speaking in Birmingham, Mr Brown said: "There was no conspiracy, no cover-up, no double dealing, no deal on oil, no attempt to instruct Scottish ministers, no private assurances by me to Colonel Gaddafi."
