Clegg wants 'reasonable goal' in Afghanistan

The Liberal Democrat leader has criticised the government for ''refusing to explain the aims of its mission to Afghanistan.''

Nick Clegg broke a political consensus in support of the Afghan mission by writing in a newspaper last week: "Our soldiers' lives are being thrown away because our politicians won't get their acts together."

Speaking in the House of Commons, he called for a ''reasonable goal'' for the military operation.
