How to elect a new Speaker

MPs are set to elect a new Speaker on Monday, following the resignation of Michael Martin after nine years in the job.

There are 10 confirmed contenders for the role of controlling the Commons.

James Landale explains the procedure that will see a new incumbent dragged to the Speaker's chair.
