Historic defeat for Labour

Labour has suffered a terrible blow at the hands of voters in the European elections, polling just 15.3% of the vote, in its worst election result since World War II.

They were beaten into third place by the Conservatives and UKIP, and for the first time, the British National Party has won at a national level, gaining two seats in the European parliament.

Vicki Young reports.
