Johnson backs Brown as PM

New Home Secretary Alan Johnson has said he "genuinely believes" Gordon Brown is "the best man" to be leading the country and that at this time, he could "see no way that he would ever be prime minister".

He told the BBC he disagreed with James Purnell's actions, and that he was disappointed in the former work and pensions secretary.
