Tories 'committed to tax pledge'

The Conservatives insist they are still 100 per cent in favour of plans to scrap inheritance Tax on estates worth less than £1m.

Doubts were raised when the shadow business secretary Kenneth Clarke said the proposal was an aspiration rather than a commitment.

Spending priorities for the government and the opposition have been brought into sharp focus by the recession.
