The Shadow Commons leader Alan Duncan has said that he believes Tony McNulty has pushed the expenses system 'to the edge', after the employment minister said he did not break any rules by claiming an allowance for a home in London where his parents live.

Speaking to the BBC, Mr Duncan called for the second home allowance to be scrapped in the future, arguing that 'people should pay for their own homes, out of their own salary'.
