Prime minister's questions

Opposition leader David Cameron has accused Gordon Brown of being "in denial" over the scale of the recession, listing a series of government schemes that Mr Cameron says are giving people "false hope".

But the prime minister, who told MPs that rising unemployment was a "matter of personal regret", retorted that the Conservatives were more concerned with cutting inheritance tax than helping unemployed people.

Meanwhile, Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg asked the PM whether "frenzied target setting in the NHS" had any role to play in the "horrific events" at Stafford Hospital that have come to light this week.
