Defence Secretary John Hutton has announced that two terror suspects captured by UK troops in Iraq were later transferred by the US to Afghanistan, despite previous government assurances that there were no such cases.
He told MPs: "I regret that it is now clear that inaccurate information on this particular issue has been given to the House by my department."
But he added that there was no "substantiated evidence" that they had been mistreated or subjected to abuse.
