'Why we support Heathrow expansion'


A third runway and sixth terminal are to be built at Heathrow Airport, the transport secretary has told the House of Commons.

Environmentalists and many local residents oppose the plans on the grounds of noise and air pollution.

The Transport Secretary Geoff Hoon is among a number of transport officials and politicians who have explained why they back the expansion and have tried to assuage opponents' fears.
