Black Rod: 'I shall miss you Dennis'

A quip by Labour MP Dennis Skinner, who is sometimes characterised as "the Beast of Bolsover", has become a tradition of state opening when Black Rod summons MPs to the House of Lords to hear the Queen's Speech.

This year, at what will probably be his last state opening before standing down from the role of Black Rod, Sir Michael Willcocks replied to Mr Skinner.

"I shall miss you, Dennis," Black Rod said - drawing laughter from MPs.
