Moses Room

The Moses Room is a large committee room in the Palace of Westminster that is used by peers as their secondary debating chamber.

Debate on bills at Committee Stage - when not taken as a committee of the whole House - and consideration of Statutory Instruments are often held in the Moses Room.

Debates held in the Moses Room are often procedural in nature and as such are only rarely televised.

The Room is so-called because it contains a large fresco called 'Moses bringing down the Tables of the Law from Mount Sinai'.

The Moses Room is analogous to the Grand Committee Room used by MPs in Westminster Hall.
