Phone calls database warning

The Information Commissioner Richard Thomas has voiced his concerns over plans for a central database of the entire nation's phone calls and emails.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4's The World at One, Mr Thomas said a " full public debate is needed " to defend "fundamental liberties".

Plans for the database are expected to be included in the government's Communications Data Bill.
