Davis on 'spectacular' result

Former Home Secretary David Davis has won a resounding victory in the Haltemprice and Howden by-election.

He resigned in June to fight his seat on the issue of 42-day detention for terror suspects.

Mr Davis told the BBC that the loss of his place in the cabinet was a price he was "willing to pay for a massive issue of principle".
