Osborne mulls fuel duty reform

Shadow chancellor George Osborne has proposed a new way of levying fuel duty which he says will help families when global oil prices are high.

Under the scheme, the government would cut fuel duty when prices are high but raise duty when oil prices are low.

The Conservative party will hold a public consultation on the proposal and draft a policy next year.
