Above inflation MP pay deal urged
Gordon Brown
Gordon Brown has urged restraint over public sector pay
The Senior Salaries Review Body has recommended MPs get an above inflation pay rise of 2.8%, the BBC has learned.

The body goes on to suggest inflation linked increases for the following two years with an additional 650 per year as a "catch-up" payment.

This is to recognise that MPs have had a series of below inflation increases since 2002.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown is calling on MPs to limit the increase in the coming year to 1.9%.
