May unveils leopard print wellies
Theresa May's boots
Mrs May surprises delegates with her choice of footwear
Theresa May is known for her love of exotic shoes - but the shadow commons leader has really surpassed herself at this year's Tory conference.

Delegates were startled to see Mrs May stroll on stage at the Winter Gardens in leopard print Wellington boots.

They were for a Tory "social action" gardening project in Blackpool, explained the shadow minister.

As the flashbulbs popped, Mrs May urged party members to get involved in community projects in their areas.

Mrs May's shoes first entered the political spotlight in 2002, when she delivered a conference speech as party chairman in leopard print kitten heels.

The following year she sported a pair of zebra print heels.

The shadow cabinet have been helping to renovate a community centre in Blackpool as part of the party's "social action" programme.
