Lib Dem delegates give their opinions on Sir Menzies Campbell's closing speech to their annual conference:
CHRISTIAN SENIOR, STRATFORD, WARWICKSHIRE
It was a great speech, very inspiring. There really was plenty of passion.
He put a lot more energy into that speech than normal.
The jokes were really good. I especially liked the bit where he made Tory policy-making seem like Star Trek - I think the younger members will like that bit.
I also thought it was good that Ming mentioned his age. He is full of energy and it doesn't matter what age he is.
JAMES ROBERTSON, SALISBURY, WILTSHIRE
It was a very good speech, especially after all the criticism Ming has come in for in the last week.
You could see the relief on his face when he finished speaking.
He is much, much better than his competition and I'm proud of how he did.
I don't suppose it will silence his critics in the media, but it was a very good performance.
ANN LEWIS, DUDLEY, WEST MIDLANDS
It went down very well in the hall. The audience reaction was very spontaneous, very warm.
He is so full of beans and energy.
I particularly liked the stuff about the environment. That was the theme of the week and he spoke very well about.
Charles Kennedy was a great speaker but I think this man is just as good.
TOM STUBBS, TRURO, CORNWALL
I think it was absolutely amazing. It made me feel proud to be a Liberal Democrat.
It showed why the Lib Dems are the real alternative.
Ming really answered his critics. That man has got more energy in his little finger than most people in this conference hall have in their whole body.
I was absolutely blown away.
BOB BAILEY, BRIGHTON
I was very impressed. I thought he spoke with great conviction.
It is was the best speech I have seen by a leader so far. It has given a great lift to the party.
The other party leaders will be worried now, going into their conferences.
I have been coming to party conferences since 1981 and this is the most memorable one I have attended because of the radical policies we have debated on immigration, taxation and global warming.
SALLY HINCKLEY, STRATFORD, WARWICKSHIRE
I think it was a very good speech.
He has had a lot of criticism just because of his age and he answered that. I particularly liked the constitutional stuff in the speech.
We are ready for a general election.
