MPs have called for evidence on scientific developments
MPs are to hold an inquiry into scientific developments relating to abortion, including long-term risks.

The Commons science and technology committee said it would examine evidence about the 24-week upper limit on most legal abortions.

It will also look at the practicalities and safety of allowing nurses or midwives to carry out abortions.

However, it said it would not look at the ethical or moral issues of having abortion time limits.

The committee called for written evidence from interested parties by 2 September.
