Veteran former Labour MP Tony Benn remains "comfortable" in hospital after reportedly falling and banging his head at the annual conference in Brighton.
Mr Benn is thought to have been treated by paramedics at the Brighton Centre on Tuesday before being taken by ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital.
His son, International Development Secretary Hilary Benn, was at the 80-year-old's bedside on Tuesday.
Mr Benn's injuries are not understood to be life threatening.
A hospital spokesman said Mr Benn would be seen by a consultant on Wednesday.
Mr Benn had been due to speak on Tuesday evening at a conference fringe meeting entitled "Does democracy need a makeover?"
He stepped down from Westminster in 2001.
