Man charged after Commons crash
Concrete blocks now encircle the Houses of Parliament
Concrete blocks are among anti-terror moves at Parliament
A man has been charged with attempted robbery after a car crashed into the gates of the Houses of Parliament.

The Opel car containing four Romanians, two men and two women, collided with the gates at about 2100 BST on Friday.

The two women were taken to hospital and treated for "moderate injuries". They were both later discharged.

Petre Ponta, 31, a passenger in the car, is due to appear before Bow Street Magistrates' Court on Monday charged with attempted robbery.

The driver of the car, who has not been named, has not been charged in connection with Friday's incident.

Police earlier said the car did not breach security gates, and the incident was not linked to terrorism.

A full-scale security review had begun at Westminster even before May's incident when protesters hurled flour bombs at Tony Blair during prime minister's questions.
