The Green Party has appointed a 51-year-old city councillor as one of its two leaders.
The Green Party's Keith Taylor with his co-leader Caroline Lucas MEP
Brighton councillor Keith Taylor replaces Dr Mike Woodin, who died last month of cancer at the age of 38.
The party always has one man and one woman sharing its top post and Mr Taylor will join Caroline Lucas MEP as principal speaker.
He is a former businessman and leader of the Green council group on Brighton's city council.
The party says Mr Taylor been instrumental in making Brighton the third strongest local authority Green group in Britain after Lancaster and Oxford.
