Julia Drown

Date of birth

23 August 1962

Political profile

Julia Drown is a backbencher who supports a range of different causes.

Most of them are built around quality of life and environmental issues in Swindon, but none has attracted so much publicity as her fight to let female MPs breastfeed in the Commons.

She has spearheaded this campaign and fought many other battles on behalf of women in Parliament, where she chairs the All Party Maternity Group.

Although normally a loyalist, Ms Drown opposed the establishment of foundation hospital trusts in 2003 .

She used to be a senior financial manager for the Radcliffe Infirmary and uses that experience in her campaigns on NHS finance and social exclusion issues.

She is standing down from her seat at the next general election.
