Two Brazilian men on trial for the murder of a Londonderry man in Portugal said they were unaware their attack on him led to his death.

Paul Houston, a 51-year-old father-of-four, was found dead at Alvor, in the Algarve region, last September.

Jones Dos Santos, who is 27, and 20-year-old Diago Dias admitted being involved in a fight with Mr Houston, but said he was sitting up afterward.

The trial has been adjourned until the 20 May when a verdict is expected.

Mr Houston, who owned Houston Shoes on the Strand Road in Derry, was on a family holiday when he was attacked.

He had lived in Donegal and was president of Greencastle Golf Club.
