Dissidents are 'bad for business'

The dissident republican campaign is not helping local trade, the US economic envoy to Ireland has said.

Declan Kelly met with business leaders in Londonderry on Tuesday.

Mr Kelly said Northern Ireland was a safe place to do business, but the activities of dissident republicans did create a negative impression abroad.

"Obviously incidents don't help, because they're broadcast all over the world, but I don't think companies make a decision based on that," he said.
