Remembrance wreaths are stolen

The wreaths were stolen in the early hours of Saturday

Most of the wreaths laid at the war memorial in Londonderry's Diamond on Remembrance Sunday have been stolen.

The police said that the latest incident happened at about 0530 GMT on Saturday when a man was seen carrying two wreaths on Abercorn Road.

Foyle DUP MLA William Hay said it was difficult to describe the type of people that did this.

"The cenotaph is an area where there should be total and absolute respect," he said.

"It's almost like going into a graveyard and removing wreaths from a particular grave."
