Flooding threatens city homes

Residents in Londonderry have stopped traffic driving along a main road in an effort to prevent their homes from flooding.

Heavy rain caused the Letterkenny Road to flood, putting 14 homes in Old City Close at risk of flooding.

Residents said they had no option but to block the road as the traffic was pushing water into their homes.

The Glenshane Road, Balllyquinn Road, Berryhill Road and Victoria Road have also been badly affected.

The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning and police have advised people not to travel unless it is absolutely necessary.
