Two homes have been attacked during disturbances at an interface in the Waterside area of Londonderry.

Windows were smashed in Whitethorn Drive in the Currynerin area at about 0400 BST on Monday.

A community worker said part of the security fence separating it from the loyalist Tullyally area was cut away.

Currynerin residents claimed youths from the neighbouring estate attacked several homes, including that of a disabled man, and a family with a baby.

The police said they were in the area within 10 minutes, and maintained a presence for the rest of the night.
