Name of crash victim is released

The accident happened at the junction of Culmore Road and Springfield Road

Police have released the name of a man who died following a two-car accident in County Londonderry.

Kevin O'Toole, 18, from Foyle Springs was involved in a crash at the junction between Culmore Road and Springfield Road at about 1840 BST on Tuesday.

Another man was taken to hospital, but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Local councillor Colum Eastwood said it was an "awful tragedy for everyone concerned".

"Details are very sketchy at the minute, but the place where this accident happened isn't far away from a place where a mother and daughter were killed not so long ago.

"I think we have to learn the lessons, if there are any lessons to be learned, and of course send our condolences to the family," he said.
