Underage drinkers' alcohol seized

Police seize alcohol
Over 200 items of alcohol were seized by police last Halloween

Over 300 items of alcohol were seized from underage drinkers in Londonderry last weekend, the police have said.

Up to 60 officers took part in Operation Snapper, which will run in the city throughout the summer.

Inspector John Burrows said police confiscated a wide variety of items including beer, cider, alcopops and 12 litres of vodka.

"Some very strong alcohol has been taken off the hands of young people," he said.

"This will prevent them damaging their own health and making misery in local communities."
