Party guest guilty of city rape

Laganside Courts Complex
The case was heard at Belfast Crown Court

A man has been found guilty of raping a Belfast woman as she lay in her bed.

Tonderai Chakwana, 34, a Zimbabwean national with an address on the city's Ormeau Road, was found guilty by a jury at Belfast Crown Court.

She met Chakwana in a bar and he and others went back to her house for a party later. She went to bed and she later had "flashbacks" of the assault.

Chakwana, who claimed that the sex was consensual, will be sentenced next month.
