PSNI seek owners of 150 antiques

Police car

Police are trying to trace the owners of antiques thought to be worth thousands of pounds which were found in a house in Downpatrick.

A man in his 60s was arrested and charged with having seven stolen clocks, which were recovered during a search last October.

Police also found about 150 other items, including paintings, a silver tea set and decanters.

They suspect they are stolen, but are still trying to confirm this.

Among the items are a black slate and marble mantle clock with mercury pendulums, a marble and gold mantle clock with a large gold eagle and a set of three crystal decanters and matching glasses in a walnut case.

Members of the public are asked to call 028 44 611106 if they have any information.

They have also been asked to prepare as many details as possible, ideally including photographs and proof of ownership, about any item they think may be among those recovered in Downpatrick.
