Name of road victim is released

Scene of accident

The 15-year-old boy killed in a road accident in County Fermanagh on Thursday night was Nathan Gault from Florencecourt.

A girl was also critically injured in the accident which happened on the Croaghrim Road, Florencecourt, at about 1830 GMT.

They were walking home from school with another youth when they were hit by a car.

The accident occurred close to Nathan's uncle's house.

Nathan, who had been called by his family on his mobile telephone, told them he was walking down the road.

He had just started day release work with a local plumber.

UUP MLA Tom Elliott described the death as "a tragedy for the family".

"The Florencecourt area of Fermanagh has a very close-knit community and the tragic death of this young man and serious injury of another youth will be devastating for the families and entire community," he said.

SDLP assembly member Tommy Gallagher said the news would "devastate the people of the area".

"We have got to find ways of keeping people, and particularly our young people, safe on the roads," he said.
